Lilacs Growing Wild



Day 5 of the current Daily painiting challenge was done from a photo of a lilac bush I took while out plein aire painting along a country road. These bushes were growing wild just off the road along with some daffodils. I imagine that they were someone's treasures at one time since there was also the remains of a chimney and some stairs. How appropriate that all that was left of the old homestead was flowers. It reminded me that even though we may move on in life, what we sow is always there for the next generation.

Day 3: This lovely little woodland flower was blooming profusely this year in our wild garden. I think it was happy with all the rain in the spring. It was a challenge to do these in pastel but I'm pleased with the result.The price includes tax but not shipping or framing.

Lenten Rose



Day 2 of the September Daily Painting Challange is the Lenten Rose. I love these early bloomers. I have several planted in my shade garden and this years crop was amazing. They usually start blooming in February in our part of the country and heralds the coming of spring. I have the beautiful greenish and also a lovely soft purple variety. I highly recommend them if you have shade. They are a stunning addition especially among hosta, astilbe, hydrangeas and ferns.
