Interloper Among the Finches

This studio painting was done using a photo taken by my friend Margie Germain and used with her permission. This finch nest was in her hanging basket planter. Hydrangeas in Abundance

My hydrangeas bushes look like they are on steroids this year. They are so plentiful and amazing. I loved how they were all jumbled together, each fighting for a place in the dappled shade with the sun peeking through. I love painting in gardens, especially mine. It is such a unique way to document what happens each year in the ever changing gardens. If you wouldl like me to document your favorite garden space just give me a call to commission one or more. Happy Gardening!

Mystic Fog, New Zealand

This Little study was done from a photo taken by my nephew and used with his permission. I loved the subtle changes of the fog and the distorted colors it created on the landscape. This study is an exploration for a larger painting. I often work up studies of a subject to work out some of the details and possible color combinations I might want to use in a larger format. I was quite happy how this one came together and will definitely be painting a larger version. This little study is going to my nephew as a gift for his commissioning as a minister. Hope he enjoys it as much as I enjoyed painting it.
