Back to Augusta

This was one of the paintings done on location during the "Quick Paint" at Centennial Farms and Ochard

Well, it is almost time for my annual trip to Augusta, Missouri.  This beautiful area is home to several wineries and wonderful hills and scenery.  Each year they hold a paint out for ten days, in and around the area of the town of Augusta.

Last year was my first time there and I can't wait to get back to there this year.  The event runs from April 22 to May 2nd.  The event culminates with a sale of the artwork created that week.  It has several venues for painting at the wineries of the area with purchase awards at some.  If you are an artist you should check it out-if you are a collector, or just like seeing art created right before your eyes, you shoud check it out.

The website for the event is www.augusta-chamber.org.  The name of the event is the "Augusta's 7th Annual Plein Air Event.

Hope to see you there.

Vet Dogs

I chanced upon a new link to a website that I thought was wonderful and wanted to share it with you.  The organization is called VetDogs.  They provide service dogs to wounded veterans to aid in their day to day lives.  It is a great idea and much needed by the veterans.  I know from our own experience with our son, that a dog can accomplish miraculous things when in a wounded vets life.  Their link is vetdogs.com.

I will be adding this group to the list that I donate a portion of my painting fees to when I do commissioned pet portraits.   So, if you are interested in having a painting of your favorite pet buddy, just contact me and we'll get started.

I am still running the 6"x9" special that I had up at Christmas.  This is a head only painting matted and framed to an 8"x10" size for $75.00.  This is for one pet only in the painting, as this size only allows for one pet.

This size makes great Mother and Fathers Day presents.

So check out the Vet Dogs site.
The painting of Scruffy is that size.

Lake at Heber Springs

This day painting is done from a photo that I took of the sun setting on the Lake at Heber Springs, Arkansas. The time spent in Heber Springs was magical.  The lake and streams in and around the area are wonderful and a joy to paint.

This painting of the sun setting over the lake is done from a study that I had done on location there.  It continually amazes me that artist go overseas when we have such enchanting places in our own country to paint.  Of course, it could also be due to the fact that I don't fly on airplanes-EVER.  By driving all over our country though I am able to stop and really take in all the wonders offered by it.  I think that we Americans should take lots of local trips even in our own areas and discover the land around us.

Just get in your car and drive down a country lane-you will be delighted with the scenery all around you.
Happy Driving!!
