This was day 12 of December's painting challenge. Hubby found a fabulous poinsettia for me to enjoy and paint. Really put me in the holiday spirit. I loved how the light bounced off the petals and just shimmered. Painting from life gives you that aha moment and allows you to see the world in such glorious color.

This is day 1 and 3 of the this month's challange. I started the painting Dec. 1 but went back out and finished it up today. It was a balmy though slightly windy day but still a gorgeous day to paint. I have fallen in love with this park and it's waterfall. It cascades for several layers from the top of a hill down to the road, under the road and continues on into the lake. Waterfall Park is a really "user friendly" park. Nice walking trail, a picnic shelter, playground for the kiddies,a dock to feed the wildlife from and a lovely stone bride which is currently lit up with Christmas lights which string from street light to street light. Yes, I think another trip is needed to paint that scene. The park is behind Bass Pro Shop, the hotel and Los Cabo's just off 40 Hwy in Independence, MO.. Great adventure for just about anyone. I saw joggers, walkers(even one who was using her walker very effectively), puppies with their people on a stroll, parents with their children and , of course, now an artist.

This was painted at Waterfall Park in Independence Mo. It was a lovely day and temps were really nice, especially in the sun. Got a little chilly by the late afternoon but we were thrilled that the waterfall hadn't been turned off for the winter yet. Took some great photos for reference also. Ducks and geese were getting fed by park goers and walkers and joggers were in abundance. A couple even stopped by to visit on their stroll around the lake. I painted this with pallet knife mostly but there are a few brush strokes in there too. All in all a very pleasant day of painting and adventure.
