A Day in Sunshine
These were painted partly in plein aire and then from photos in my studio. The piece is my first triptych. The end panels are 8”x8” and the middle panel is 8”x16”. So the entire piece is 8”x32”. I have always wanted to try a triptych but was reluctant. Doing it in plein aire turned out to be more of a challenge than expected, especially in this heat. I have done canvases as large as 12”x24” and 20”x30” in plein aire but this proved much more challenging. The piece is unframed and the price reflects that. It was a lot of fun and I will definitely try another. The goal for me was to make sure each panel could stand alone on it’s own thus helping the piece be mor interesting and cohesive.
